| The popular Kentish venue of Withersdane Hall is situated within a short taxi-ride from Ashford's International Station. Withersdane has a range of seminar rooms, one of which could have been tailor-made for our meetings. All modern audio-visual equipment is available for speakers to use, and the bar area downstairs provides the most amenable of sites for a poster session. Possessing something of the nature of a stately home, Withersdane boasts beautiful grounds, with a small golf course, and various formal garden areas. Accommodation is in comfortable en suite rooms close to the meeting rooms and the dining room, and also the bar. This makes for a uniquely cosy atmosphere, which is ideal for our small, friendly Workshops. |

BCSV Workshops have always been low-cost, informal events, yet have provided
an excellent talking shop for exchange of ideas, experiences, expertise and
also for fostering new collaborative enterprises. They have been very successful
in bringing together scientists from a wide range of disciplines and industry.
The perfumery and flavour businesses have always been represented, and industrial input has included presentations from manufacturers of electronic odour-recognition devices. Reflecting this, representatives from chemical sensor research are also numbered among the academic delegates and presenters.
|
Delegates' interests have included Conventional and Complementary Medicine, Animal Behaviour and Conservation, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Anatomy, Psychology, Materials Chemistry, Electronic engineering, Computing (esp. artificial neural networks) and even Linguistics... |
